Dream Sequences

Howdy Gang,

So I’m starting up a new AmVi project this year called Dream Sequences. It rocks for two reasons. 1) I’ll be filming it almost entirely at conventions. 2) It will be with music whose owner is very cool with me using and making videos to, happily sidestepping previous copyright problems.

Here’s the overview from the Dream Sequences Page:

The Dream Sequence Project came out of the music of a friend of mine, Cedric, I met in Baton Rouge. Unbeknown to me at the time was that he was a composer, making music, mostly for himself it seems. One day when discussing the awesomeness of the Tron soundtrack with a mutual friend of ours, Tim, he mentioned that Cedric did similar music. Several e-mails and a flurry of mp3s latter and I was hooked. Cedric was not only damn good, he was making exactly the kind of music I wanted to make videos to. I’ve managed to get my hands on three CD’s worth of stuff from him and after perusing it I’ve come up with a series of songs I want to make into a chain of videos.

Dream Sequence is going to be that chain. The basic precept is something akin to Inception, or you could say that the actors will be acting in the world of Inception. The idea being that something of value is being stolen from various people in various ways, and each time the song changes, the actors and method of theft will change. The songs would blend fluidly and the video in each segment would present dream like qualities to que to viewer in to the fact that they are basically watching a series of dream sequences.

Also, in conjunction with what I want to show with this project, is how I want to film it. Instead of setting up a series of shoots where-by I get actors for each one and we pick a specific location, etc, etc, I am planning on doing the shoots “on-the-fly”. I’ll be attending at least a few science fiction conventions this year and at each of them I’ll be doing the shoot for one of the videos. I’ll get actors from the attendees, as well as camera-people, crew, and other necessary volunteers at the convention, film at the convention, and then if time permits, do some editing there as well.

With that said I’ve already had AggieCon confirm their want to work with me on the filming, so I’ve starting planning and storyboarding the first shoot. As time moves forward I’ll be building a page for the AggieCon shoot and putting everything I have up there.
