And Vote Republican, at least for Senators and members of the House of Representatives. As far as Governors and other state based officials, vote however you feel is best for your particular state. But for the high offices I urge you very steadily to vote republican and the reason has very little to do with politics and everything to do with economics.
Look back at U.S. economic history a little. You’ll see that we have good times and bad times and so-so times. In the modern era, and this means post WWII for anyone asking, you can see an interesting trend. The economy typically goes through a recession everytime the powers that be happen to all be the same political party. Think of the recent good times: The Reagan Era, the Clinton Era. During both of those occasions one party had control of the Presidency and another party had control of the Legislature. From a governmental standpoint things ground to a halt.
Things moving slowly in government is a very good thing for the American economy because it means the rules that govern our economy aren’t changing. When the rules are changing it makes investment in the economy inherently risky. Who knows if investing in fisheries will be good if the rules governing fishing change suddenly. Who knows if investing in the housing market is a good idea if the way loans are handled by the government suddenly changes. So the people who fuel the economy, a.k.a. the people who invest money into new enterprises, stop investing when the government is moving quickly.
But when the government is moving slowly then the investors come out in droves, because investments are inherently less risky. The economy, charged up by all the new capital put in place, suddenly starts getting better. So ultimately if we want the economy to start getting better, we need a government who isn’t doing anything. The only way we’re going to get that out of this coming election is if the party that control Congress is the Republicans.
So I say again, Vote Tomorrow, and if you want things to start getting better, vote Republican.
