Craziness

Been busy here. As can be seen I’ve added some icons to the site, which i believe has been a major improvement. Soon I will be moving on to add some actual pictures to the header of the site.

In the mean time I’ve devoted a great deal of time and effort to trying to figure out how to host a webcomic on a site that is not just a webcomic. The long and short of it is as follows: There are several plugins that claim to be able to do this, but none of them are plug and play. They all need you to have at least a good handle on how WordPress, HTML, and CSS styling works, which is crap if you ask me. Mange+Press Comic Manager doesn’t work when installed because it necessitates adding some code to the CSS Style page, but ever after you do that there are no real instructions in existence to get it to work which is sad because I don’t think it would take much to explain it to someone like me.

The rest of the pack: ComicPress, Webcomic, and StripShow all only really work with their own themes. ComicPress is at least not a liar about this. ComicPress flat out says: You Need the ComicPress theme to get ComicPress to work. Webcomic on the other hand provides the user with the ability to tack Webcomic on to one of their own themes, but provides no instructions to do so, which is so so very sad because so much else of Webcomic is explained so well, that is if you can find the Webcomic instructions, which are hidden far far away from it’s non-functioning “plugin site” link. StripShow is basically the same deal as Webcomic. It can be used with another theme but you have to know a great deal about how WordPress functions to get it to work, or at least suffer through an enormous amount of documentation, I haven’t gotten far enough into it to tell, but from the outset it very much feels like “You really should use the theme that comes with StripShow, but we’ll try and hash it out to you anyway.”

I want someone to make a plugin that you can install into any theme, or almost any theme, that handles your webcomic without too much back end work, or much more likely, a fairly simple instruction set that says flat out: “How To Use “X-Plugin” With Your Own Theme.” With step by step instructions on how to do so.
But I’m not making any plugins myself so I’m not going to bitch too loudly.
